"Ramona, with all the work you have done regarding African American Golf History, you should have a traveling exhibition... You can do it." —Judy Bell c.,1997 Dinner meeting, Washington, DC; included Ramona Harriet, author Dr. Calvin Sinnette, and then USGA President Judy Bell (served 1996, 1997).

That suggestion became a reality—The EPOCHS Indoor Traveling

The EPOCHS African American Golf History Exhibitions

The Beginning

November 1999, The EPOCHS Indoor Traveling Exhibit (formerly the Epochs of Courage Exhibit) debuted in Washington, DC.

Within the next year, The EPOCHS had several showings

in Florida, and in Washington, DC at Langston Golf Course

and One Judiciary Square office building.

This one-of-a-kind exhibit was credited for being the first

African American Golf History multimedia traveling exhibit.

The Now

The EPOCHS Traveling Indoor Exhibit

Based on the extensive research and collection by author/research historian Ramona Harriet, the exhibit collection includes a wide-range inventory of memorabilia, publications, images and more…

all testifying to the contributions African Americans have made

to the game of golf, which Harriet chronicles in her book

"A Missing Link In History".

For more than twenty years, Harriet has traveled throughout

the United States talking, telling, and teaching

about African American golf history.

What's Next

As interests and requests continue to increase, we realize that a

Cross-Country Museum On Wheels

is the best way to broaden our audience.

To achieve our enduring goal to become more accessible to communities across the contiguous United States,

The EPOCHS Tour: Celebrating African American Golf History

will fulfill that goal.

Our Mission

Reveal

Facts, documents and data that illustrate and tell how African Americans affected the course of history not only in golf, but in American history.

Educate

Enhance interest and awareness to learn, understand and recognize the importance of a cultural sports’ history that spans over 125 years.

Preserve

Become a long-term resource of knowledge; and encourage visitors to create emotional and memorable connections to this rich history.
